Công Đức Lotus Pond: A Hidden Field of Lotus Flowers in Rex, Georgia

Công Đức Lotus Pond: A Hidden Field of Lotus Flowers in Rex, Georgia

Sometimes the most beautiful places are the ones you would never know were there.

Tucked away in Rex, Georgia, just south of Atlanta, Công Đức Lotus Pond is one of those wonderfully unexpected places. There are no grand entrance gates, paved parking lots or visitor centers. In fact, when your GPS tells you that you’ve arrived, you may find yourself wondering if you’re even in the right place.

But beyond the unassuming entrance is something pretty incredible—a pond filled with enormous green lotus leaves and beautiful blooms rising above the water.

If you love finding unusual places around Georgia, photography, flowers, or simply getting off the beaten path, Công Đức Lotus Pond is worth adding to your summer adventures.

A Privately Owned Lotus Pond

The first thing to understand about Công Đức Lotus Pond is that this is not a public park or botanical garden. It is privately owned property, and the owners live on-site.

Their home is located just beyond the area where you pay to enter.

The fact that the owners allow visitors onto their property to experience the pond makes this place feel even more special. It also means visitors should be mindful that they are guests at someone’s home.

Respect the property, stay in the areas intended for visitors, don’t leave trash behind and follow any instructions or signs posted by the owners.

Getting There: Use the Parking Address

There are two addresses associated with Công Đức Lotus Pond, and knowing the difference will make your arrival much easier.

Công Đức Lotus Pond:
4113 Lindbergh Way
Rex, GA 30273

Visitor Parking:
3901 Minnow Road
Rex, GA 30273

When you’re visiting, use 3901 Minnow Road in your GPS for parking.

And don’t expect a traditional parking lot when you arrive.

The parking area is extremely unassuming. You’ll park on the grass, and there isn’t a big entrance announcing that you’ve reached a tourist attraction.

You may actually have one of those moments when your GPS says, “You’ve arrived,” and you look around thinking, “Are we sure?”

Trust it.

You’re there.

Bring Cash: How the Honor System Works

This is probably the most important thing to know before you go:

Bring cash.

When we visited in 2026, admission was:

$8 per person

There isn’t a traditional ticket booth. Instead, payment is handled through an honor system.

Just beyond the grassy parking area, look for a mailbox. Inside you’ll find envelopes and a pen.

Take an envelope and fill out the requested information, including the details about your vehicle. Place your cash payment inside the envelope and then put it into the designated payment box.

That’s it.

It’s wonderfully simple and old-fashioned—a system built almost entirely on trust.

Walking Into a Sea of Lotus

Once you’ve paid, continue onto the property toward the pond.

And this is where that very ordinary-looking arrival suddenly becomes something completely different.

The pond stretches out before you beneath a sea of enormous green lotus leaves. Rising above them are beautiful lotus blossoms in varying stages—from tightly closed buds to fully opened flowers and the distinctive seed pods that remain after the petals have fallen.

Depending on when you visit, the number of blooms will vary. Lotus flowers are seasonal, with summer—particularly July and August—being the time to see them in Georgia.

Mother Nature doesn’t follow an exact schedule, though, so every visit will be a little different.

Bring Your Camera

If you enjoy photography, you’ll probably want to allow yourself some extra time here.

The lotus flowers themselves are beautiful, but there are so many smaller details worth noticing.

Look at the way water collects on the enormous leaves. Watch for flowers in different stages of blooming. Notice the unusual seed pods and the contrast between the soft pink petals and seemingly endless shades of green surrounding them.

Wide views across the pond are beautiful, but some of the best photographs may come from slowing down and focusing on the individual flowers and details.

If you’re visiting primarily for photography, earlier in the day can also mean softer light and more comfortable temperatures during a Georgia summer.

Take a Lotus Flower Home

One of the things that makes visiting Công Đức Lotus Pond even more unusual is that you can actually pay to take a lotus flower home with you.

When we visited in 2026, lotus flowers were:

$3 each

Be sure to follow the instructions provided by the owners regarding purchasing and taking flowers rather than simply picking one on your own.

For only a few dollars, it’s a pretty memorable souvenir from your visit—and certainly not something you bring home from your average Georgia day trip.

You Can Fish Here, Too

The lotus may be what catches your attention today, but the property has also been used as a fishing pond.

Fishing is available for a fee, giving visitors another reason to spend some time here beyond photographing and admiring the flowers.

Check the posted information when you arrive for current fishing prices and instructions, since fees and rules may change.

A Georgia Hidden Gem Worth Finding

There is something refreshing about a place like Cong Duc Lotus Pond.

It’s not polished or commercialized. There isn’t a giant sign directing you in from the highway. You park your car on the grass, walk over to a mailbox, fill out an envelope, tuck your cash inside and pay on the honor system.

And then you walk a little farther and find yourself standing beside a pond filled with lotus flowers.

It’s unexpected.

And that’s exactly what makes it special.

Places like Công Đức Lotus Pond are a reminder that you don’t always have to travel far—or follow the crowds—to find something beautiful. Sometimes you just have to turn off the main road, trust the GPS when you’re pretty sure it must be wrong, and see what’s waiting around the corner.

Công Đức Lotus Pond is one of those places.

And it’s exactly the kind of place that makes taking the backroads worthwhile.
